Construction Welfare and Site Compound Planning
Welfare and compound layout planning to support safe, practical and efficient construction site setup.
Construct Logistics Consultancy prepares welfare and site compound layouts for projects where space, access and workforce requirements need to be carefully coordinated.
Welfare planning is not just about placing cabins on a drawing. The arrangement needs to work with the wider site logistics strategy, including operative access, security control, pedestrian routes, material movement, delivery areas, waste management, emergency access and future phase changes.
This is especially important on constrained urban sites where available space is limited and welfare arrangements may need to adapt as the project progresses.
Scope Includes
Welfare layout planning including canteen, changing, drying, WC and office areas
Site compound and temporary accommodation arrangement
Workforce capacity planning based on projected operative numbers
Space planning for constrained or restricted sites
Operative access and controlled entry arrangements
Interface with turnstiles, security, gates and pedestrian routes
Integration with loading, storage, waste and material movement zones
Consideration of future phase changes and welfare relocation requirements
Coordination with site logistics, phasing and compound strategy
Review of circulation, access, servicing and operational practicality
Deliverables
Welfare and compound layout drawings issued in PDF format
Clear annotated plans suitable for pre-construction and site coordination
Space-efficient layouts reflecting workforce requirements and site constraints
Indicative arrangement of welfare, offices, access routes and support areas
Agreed updates to reflect design development or coordination comments
Suitable For
Constrained urban sites with limited space
Projects with high workforce numbers
Pre-construction site setup planning
Tender-stage logistics proposals
Projects requiring welfare relocation between phases
Sites requiring efficient compound and temporary accommodation planning
Outcome and Value
A well-planned welfare and compound strategy helps the project team understand how operatives, management staff and site facilities will be accommodated safely and efficiently.
The aim is to help:
Maximise available site and compound space
Support suitable welfare provision for the projected workforce
Improve operative access and site organisation
Reduce clashes between welfare, logistics and construction activities
Coordinate welfare with access, security, loading and material movement
Identify space pressures early before works begin
Support a safer and more organised site setup
Important Note
Welfare and compound layouts are prepared to support planning, coordination and site setup strategy. Final statutory welfare provision, fire safety, servicing, temporary services and compliance responsibilities remain with the Principal Contractor and relevant project duty holders.
Fees
Fees start from £350, depending on site size, workforce numbers, drawing quality, number of layout options and level of detail required.
A fixed fee will be provided once the project information, workforce assumptions, drawings and required deliverables have been reviewed.
